Dr. Martha V. Smyth
Dr. Smyth has been in dentistry for over thirty years. She began her career as a dental hygienist but dreamed of becoming a dentist. She pursued her dream, graduating from the University of Florida College of Dentistry in 1990. Dr Smyth furthered her education with general practice residency at the Veterans Administration in Gainesville.
Dr. Smyth has had her own practice in Ormond Beach since 1998. She enjoys working with patients of all ages ranging from young children to the aged.
Dr. Smyth is a native Floridian, having been born in Jacksonville. She has a sister and three brothers most of whom live close enough to enjoy family get-togethers. She also enjoys being a mom to her daughter Maria, whom she adopted from Guatemala.
Dr Smyth enjoys jogging, bicycling, reading and keeping up with her very active daughter.
I was born and raised in Miami, but have lived in Georgia, and lowa as well as Germany while serving in the U.S. Army. I began as a dental assistant in 1989 and transferred to receptionist in 2003.
I began working for Dr Smyth in 2010. Coming to work here has been the best career move I have ever made. My coworkers are great and Dr Smyth is the most professional and caring dentist I have ever met. I enjoy coming to work everyday and the 30 minute commute from Port Orange is a breeze along A1A.
The most enjoyable part of my job is interacting with patients and being a part of helping them to achieve optimal oral health. I also enjoy being able to assist Dr. Smyth with patient treatment as needed.
In my spare time I like to fish, kayak and spend time with my family.
I have been practising dental hygiene, except for a 12 year hiatus of working for the American Red Cross and the New Jersey Hospital Association, since 1972.
I began working for Dr. Smyth in 2006. What I love the most is being in a position to have a positive impact on a person's health. I come to work each day with a smile on my face knowing I will see wonderful patients who are more like family and friends. Knowing I am part of a caring team who are as friendly as they are professional. And knowing I work for a dentist that places her patient's needs first...always.
I got married July 3, 1977 in Daytona Beach. My activities outside work include serving on the Daytona Beach Planning Board and the board of the Florida Sunrise Emmaus Community. I am active in my church, love yard work, walking on the beach, reading, and figuring out the demands of my Maine Coon cat, Buddy.
I have been assisting in dentistry since 2001. I was born in
Baltimore, MD but was raised and have lived in Port Orange
since 1979. I attended Spruce Creek High school which is
where my son Ethan now attends as freshman. I recieved my
Expanded Functions certificate from Valencia Community College. I
joined Dr. Smyths practice in January 2015 I absolutely love
working along side Dr. Smyth and the girls. Everyone at our
office genuinely cares for the well being and comfort of each
patient, individully. My hobbies outside of work include
spending time with my son Ethan at the beach surfing and
boogie boarding, cooking, eating what l cook and weight lifting.
